Al Sihah Shrine Temple
Aide Corps 2008
June 6, 2008
Hello and Greetings to all,
It is time to get fired back up for a very busy summer stretch of events that will take place in the next few months. We need your help if at all possible.
It takes each and everyone of us to make the scheduled and non-scheduled Temple events come together so we can all enjoy the food, fun and fellowship. Please look at the below listed events and times. Let me know if you can help us out.
*Widows/Past First Ladies Tea
Set-up Friday June 13th 9am Temple Ballroom
*Tea
Saturday June 14th 1pm Temple Ballroom (I need 5 or 6 guys to don a tux or dark suit to escort and serve the Ladies)
I also need several Ladies to help us prepare the food for the Tea. We will start at 9:00am in the Temple kitchen.
*12K Party Set-up
Friday June 20th 9am Temple Ballroom
50 Tables 300 Chairs Bars (shouldn’t take but a couple of hours.)
*12K Party
Saturday June 21st
Doors Open at 5:30pm
Meal at 6:00pm
Dance/Drawing at 7:00pm
(Aide Corps needs to be there at 4:30 to start prep on the meal)
We will serve the meal and clean up after the party as usual
The Temple will be closed the 4th of July week for Imperial Session in St. Louis. Therefore we will not meet or have a meal to serve on the 2nd.
We will prepare and serve the meal at the Stated Meeting on the 16th of July
As usual we will start at 3:30pm. We should be able to prep the meal in the Temple kitchen but if needed we can use the Activity Bldg. kitchen.
The Hospital Trip is on the 18th and 19th of July and if you have never been to a Shrine Hospital I strongly encourage you to go. Believe me it is a good time and a big eye opener.
*Watermelon Feast/Family Picnic
Saturday July 26th 1:00pm Shrine Park Activity Building and Grounds
We are negotiating on a few water slides, climbing walls and pony rides for the kids. We will have a dunking booth set up as a fund raiser for the Transportation Fund or Hospital which ever the Illustrious Sir prefers.
Again I will need some help. We can get a better rate on the slides and wall if we assist in the set up and manning of the equipment. The main thing is to watch out for the kids and to make sure that no one gets hurt. The Temple will furnish the watermelons and we will also prepare a few hotdogs and hamburgers in case someone forgets to bring their picnic basket.
*The Southeastern will be in Nashville Tennessee August 7th thru 9th. I hope to see some of you there. As always the Aide Corps will have a Hospitality Room on the 17th Floor. If you attend the Southeastern I can always use a hand. Wayne and I
will work on a Bar schedule as we have in the past. I understand that this is vacation time for you and yours but it is also vacation time for me and mine. I promise not to abuse you. I wish for everyone to come and be with the Nobility and have a ball. It is so much easier when we can all pitch in and help out.
The Potentate has asked that the Aide Corps feed a Spaghetti Supper at the Temple on August the 15th. This will be for the Present and Past Masters Night. This event was not scheduled until this past Wednesday Night. Details are at best sketchy as of this writing but as soon as I get all of the information sorted I will forward it all to you.
Finally I will close for now. Lady Pat and I Thank You for all that you are doing to help us put together a memorable year for Illustrious Sir Keel and Lady Sharon. Words alone cannot express our deepest admiration for all of you. We Love You All.
Please keep Emeritus Chief Aide Buddy Kendrick and his Family in your thoughts and prayers. Buddy has been at the Medical Center of Central Ga. for a couple of weeks now suffering with gallbladder and kidney problems. He has asked for no visitors and the more we know we will pass it on to you all.
Fraternally yours,
Corey Gunnin
